Women’s Team Conclude SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship
The Maldives women’s team have concluded their campaign at the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship, with their final match played against eventual champions Bangladesh. Despite taking an early lead against Bangladesh, the opponents proved too strong, finishing the match with a 14–2 victory. Although the team were unable to secure points in the tournament, it is important to note that this marks the first time a Maldivian women’s futsal team has been formed and competed in an international tournament. Despite facing preparation challenges, the team put up strong performances against Bhutan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, losing all three matches by narrow margins.
